Kevin "Bear" Matheson

Kevin started in the meat industry back in 1990 with Meatco Sales in Wainwright. They took over a small abattoir in Consort where the true start of his career in meat began.

But as a youth, Kevin grew up hunting with his father, learning to process the animals they harvested. Sausage making parties were very common back then, getting together and making from 200-1000 pounds of sausage in a weekend.

Most of his blends today werederived from those secret family recipes he learned growing up.

HISTORY

Kevin has been meat cutting for over 35 years through the retail system as well at IGA, Co-op and Safeway to name a few. He worked his way up to Meat Manager, but his heart was with the family recipes of his youth. He decided to go on his own doing custom and wild game. Hogs were a specialty as he expanded on what he had learned over the years, producing bacon, hams and a variety of sausages. Of course jerky was a must so he went to work designing several mixes that would work with all kinds of meats.

As a person living with someone with stomach issues, it became very important to design mixes to be gluten-free and no MSG. He is very proud to now be able to offer these blends to the public!
